The problem we solve

Traditional training closes half the gap

Toastmasters trains individuals to give prepared speeches. Executive presence coaches polish one senior leader at a time. Neither one trains the reflex to pivot mid-sentence when the plan changes, the composure to handle a hostile question in front of a customer, or the ensemble instinct a team needs when they share a stage.

That is where we work. We train the moves that only build through live reps in the room, with a facilitator who is a working performer and an applied practitioner.

What we train

What we train

Every workshop covers all three pillars, weighted to what your team actually needs. Structured intake before the session tells us the weighting.

01

Individual Presence

Public speaking, confidence, clarity, and storytelling. Get off the PowerPoint and into the story. Resonate with the audience instead of reciting at them. Build the confidence to hold a room, whether it is ten people or eight hundred. Trade the armor of jargon and slides for authentic delivery. Storytelling as the vehicle for complex ideas, not decoration on top of them.

Who this serves: newer presenters building their reps, seasoned pros polishing delivery, and senior leaders shifting from information delivery to persuasion.

Outcome: your people walk in prepared and walk out remembered.

02

Thinking on Your Feet

Comfort in ambiguity, real-time adaptation, and handling hard questions. The reflex to pivot when the plan changes mid-sentence. Land a clean answer under pressure without freezing, deflecting, or over-explaining. Read the room and adjust in real time. Turn hostile questions into productive conversations. Comfort saying "I don't know" without losing authority. Handle Q&A, feedback, disagreement, and interruption as normal parts of communication rather than emergencies.

Who this serves: anyone facing live audiences, unscripted customer conversations, executive briefings, or public-facing crisis moments.

Outcome: the answer lands the first time, not after the meeting.

03

Collaborative Stage Craft

Team performance, ensemble instinct, and the on-stage "got your back" support that separates a real team from a lineup. Present as a unit, not a lineup of individuals waiting their turn. Read your co-presenters and know when to step up or step back. Support without stepping on toes, and hand off without dropping the thread. Make every teammate look sharper than they would alone. Bring the whole team's expertise into the room, seamlessly. Rehearse the collaborative moves before they matter.

Who this serves: panels, town halls, multi-presenter product demos, sales team pitches, and executive teams presenting to boards. This pillar is our biggest differentiator, and no one else trains it at the team level.

Outcome: your team looks like a team.

Why improv, why Laughter On Call

Improv is the discipline that trains the whole system

Improv comedy is the only formal training that develops active listening, presence, adaptability under pressure, and ensemble performance in one system. Every one of those is a workplace communication skill. We strip the "get laughs" layer and keep the mechanics.

That is why our work lands at Harvard Business School, Duke, and Dartmouth Tuck, and inside Amazon, Comcast, Intuit, and Toast. And it is why our methodology is what Harvard chose to write a case study about, not the punchlines.

What LOC uniquely brings

  • Founded on healthcare work with Alzheimer's patients. The stakes have always been human, not entertainment.
  • Every session tailored through structured intake. No canned decks.
  • Facilitators who are working performers and trained applied-improv practitioners, not one or the other.
  • Optional pre and post-session surveys deliver a diagnostic snapshot and next-step recommendations.
  • More than 650 engagements across tech, healthcare, manufacturing, government, and Fortune 500 leadership.
  • Harvard Business School case study on Laughter On Call.
  • Founder Dani Klein Modisett's TEDx talk, an Editor's Pick from June 2026.
  • Taught at UCLA, Wharton, Kellogg, Harvard, Stanford, Dartmouth Tuck, Duke Fuqua, and Columbia.

The methodology in one line: we slip the medicine in with the sugar. The exercises look playful. The muscles they exercise underneath are deliberate, named, and portable back to Monday morning.

How we are different

The category, honestly

You are almost certainly comparing us to something else. Here is where the seams show.

Toastmasters

Trains individuals to give prepared speeches. Self-serve, slow, and does not train real-time adaptation, ensemble performance, or unscripted Q&A.

Executive Presence Coaching

Individual-only, expensive and only effective as individual training per person, and focused on polish rather than collaborative on-stage skill. Useful for a single senior leader, but does not scale to teams.

Public Speaking Workshops

Focused on delivery mechanics like breath, pace, and gesture, without addressing thinking under pressure or presenting as a team. Fine for a keynote coach, wrong tool for a product team fielding hostile customer questions.

Comedy Theaters

Corporate gigs are a side hustle. Facilitators are performers, not applied practitioners. The exercises are fun but rarely tied back to workplace skill.

L&D Content Libraries

Recorded content cannot build the reflex we build. These skills only develop through live, in-room reps with a skilled facilitator.

Laughter On Call

The only performance coaching that trains individual presence, thinking on your feet, and team stage craft in one system, built and refined over eight years and more than 650 engagements.

I very much appreciated the insights that Laughter On Call took us through at the Dartmouth Entrepreneurs Forum. The importance of presence, authenticity, and listening as straightforward tools to build human connections, and then the power of humor and laughter to cement those connections into place and to enable more durable and deeper leadership. Well done.

Frequently asked questions

Improv sounds silly. Our team is serious.

So are we. The word "improv" evokes short-form comedy, but what we teach is a set of listening, adaptation, and ensemble skills that the world's best executive communicators use every day. Harvard Business School wrote a case study on our approach for a reason. The room will be fun. The learning is real.

We already do Toastmasters, or we have executive presence coaches.

Great. Those close individual gaps. We close the gaps they cannot reach: real-time adaptability under pressure, and ensemble performance when your team presents together. Most of our clients pair us with one or the other.

We do not have time for a full-day workshop.

Our formats scale down to a one-hour virtual session. We build engagements that fit the calendar you have, not the other way around.

We are distributed, hybrid, or remote.

So are we, natively. We were born virtual during the pandemic and have run sessions for teams across every time zone. Our virtual formats are built for engagement, not endurance. Our in-person work is based across north america and travels anywhere.

How do we know this actually works?

More than 650 engagements. Repeat clients across multiple years. Harvard Business School case study. TEDx Editor's Pick. Taught at three top business schools. Pre and post-session surveys to diagnose and measure change.

This sounds expensive.

Our virtual formats are priced to be manageable. Our in-person work scales based on group size, session length, and facilitator count. We size to the outcome and the budget. Ask us.

Our senior people will roll their eyes.

Our senior people were skeptical too, until they were in the room. This is the objection we hear most and the one that reverses fastest. Ask about our work with executive teams at Comcast, Intuit, and Amazon.

Can we just watch the TEDx or read the case study?

Absolutely, start there! Those explain the philosophy. The workshop builds the muscle. Laughter On Call tailors specifically to you so there’s an actual impact and ongoing effect.

Still on the fence? Let's talk!

Founder story

Founded in care, not comedy

Laughter On Call was founded by Dani Klein Modisett after her mother developed Alzheimer's. Every conventional approach failed. Then a comedian sitting with her, fully present and authentic, connected through a single silly word. That moment was not from a joke. It was from presence. It became a mission.

Dani taught stand-up at UCLA for ten years and has coached keynote speakers, business leaders, and Congressional candidates on humor in communication. Her TEDx talk was chosen as an Editor's Pick. She has been inducted to the Forbes 50 Over 50. She has keynoted for WBENC, Milken Global, ICAA, and the Dartmouth Entrepreneur Network. LOC now serves more than 650 organizations across six continents, and the roots in care are the foundation of everything we do.

Ready when you are

A twenty-minute call is enough to know if we are the right fit. No slides. No pitch. Just a conversation about the moment on your calendar, the team you want ready for it, and whether our approach is the right tool for the job.
